Work Package Four
To define performance measures for successful implementation of research evidence into practice
WP4 will define criteria for effective translation of new research knowledge into health care practice in the areas of stroke care. Based on established methodologies, indicators for measuring the successful translation practice applicable to all European countries will be identified. These measures will cover implementation at different levels of the Health care system and at different stages of diagnosing, treating and managing stroke patients.
Patient safety aspects will be addressed specifically using examples from implementing rare treatment concepts into clinical practice and extending the definition of adverse effects to a broader context than drugs (e.g. aspiration and pneumonia). Defined criteria will be applicable to different European countries. Recommendations will be developed for collecting these performance measures in a standardised way in different health care settings in agreement with ongoing data collection activities.
